Hi all my question is I just retired and started riding again picked up a new hybrid, I need a helmet but do to my big head I'm having a problem finding one that fits , I did look at the Bell Faction which looks more like a snow board helmet. But does fit. Do people use this type helmet for park / road type riding ? Any help would be appreciated , thanks

Most certainly. If you look at the immense popularity of Nutcase helmets (similar in style), such helmets are frequently used for general road riding.

I also have a large head, and oddly shaped to boot. After much gyrating through various models, I finally stumbled on the Bell Solar. It is a "universal" fit helmet and is comfortable on my noggin. Obviously, everybody's head is different, but if you wanted a lighter, more vented helmet, it might be worth a look. The added bonus is that it is inexpensive, too.  (user:waynemyer)

Try the Bell Triton.  It fits big heads and is reasonably priced.

For what it's worth:
I always found helmets a bit snug too. I really like my new Uvex helmet (about 70$ if I remember) the adjustment knob in the back lets me get a nice fit. The strap feels like it is holding the helmet comfortably secure NOT like is trying to hold it down onto the top of my head. If that makes sense..

My wife used a cloth measuring tape and measured around my head just above my ears and around my forehead, was 24 inches exactly . That can give you a point of comparison .

Here is a picture of the helmet, sorry I don't know the specific model number. The inset in the photo shows the adjustment knob.

Bell has varied in terms of what they view as a standard head.  I think I have a good sized noggin, but mine is a long oval and not a round circle.  Just go to a bike shop and try a few until you get one that you like the fit on.

I have a size 8 head that is long front-to-rear. A Giro Atlas II Large is the only helmet that I can get my head into. I have destroyed two of them while wearing them so I am a firm believer in wearing helmets.

Here's a list of large helmets on the market:
