What's the century bike ride that everybody loves?

I can't remember the name of the bike ride that a lot of people enjoy because it's a very flat course. It's on the east coast I think around Pennsylvania or something. And I'm pretty sure that the word "Gulf" is in the name... does anybody know what I'm talking about?

I'm not familiar with the one you're asking about, but if flatness is your goal, Narragansett Bay Wheelmen (Rhode Island) run "The Flatest Century in the East," and the Granite State Wheelmen (New Hampshire) run "The Seacoast Century," which they claim is actually flatter than the eponymous one.  Both pages have yet to update for this year.

That's the only thing that comes to my mind.

I did it three times ('95-'97) before I came to the conclusion that the only reason I did it the second and third times was because I was supposed to like it even though I didn't.

If flat is a must, the "Hancock Horizontal Hundred" starting in Findlay, Ohio each September should meet your needs. 

One of my favorites is TOSRV, which starts in Columbus, OH every Mother's Day weekend and has for the past 50 years.  The route is Columbus to Portsmouth (104 miles) on Saturday and return (another 104) on Sunday.  The route is mostly flat with a section of moderate hills between 50 and 75 miles.   The weather can be nice to dreadful with dreadful holding a fair majority.

There must be two thousand organized centuries that qualify as "favorites." Here are three you didn't nwo anything about:
Blue Cruise, Meridian, Idaho, June.
Ride for Independence, Boise, Idaho,  May.
Bob LeBow, Nampa, Idaho, June.
There's a lovely century in Twin Falls, ID, too, but I don't know its name.
There's a fabulous ride in Ketchum that goes up over Galena Summit, too.

I've done several centuries over the years and my favorite is 'Ride the Rivers' that starts in St. Charles, MO every October.  It goes through St. Louis county and city, then up the Mississippi river and crosses the Illinois and Mississippi rivers by way of ferries, and then back to St. Charles along the Missouri river.  It's organized by Trailnet.org if anyone's interested.

If you are in the Md-Del-NJ-PA area, the White Clay Bike Club in Delaware runs some very nice rides and centuries throughout the year, including the fun "Double Cross," where you cross the state of Delaware -- twice -- in one day, which is a novelty. It's a nice route, too.
