I use the Velocity Aerohead extensively, which is supposed to be a less durable wheel that the fusion. My masses are approximately equivalent to yours (180 to 195 pounds, 42 pound bicycle, and 30 to 40 pound loads). My wheels are 32h, 3x, DB spokes. I have no issues with these rims. I am quite unkind to these wheels. On one of my bikes, I ride down stairs, jump off curbs, hop over potholes.

I think you'll be just fine, as long as the wheelbuilder knows your intended use and keeps the tension high. On my Aerohead wheels, I run the tension near the stated maximum (140kgf). Bulletproof.

Do you have to put those verifcation numbers in everytime you post?

The Fusion should be fine as long as you avoid the low spoke count (18, 20, 24 etc.) versions.  Go with the 32H or even 36H laced 3X and they should hold up well.

I guess I only had to do that with my first 2 post, for some unknown reason. I didn't have to do it on my last post.

I weigh 195#, have close to 20,000 miles on my 32 spoke Fusions and they are still true as can be. I tour with them but with a BOB not panniers. I also run 700/32 when touring, 25's the rest of the time. Larger tires help with heavier riders.
