I  used a foldable plastic Nalgene bottle for a tj in a liitle backyard campout a couple weeks ago.  It leaked a bit.  This is not a good thing.  Do you have a favorite? 100% reliable?  No joking around, now.

Wide-mouthed half-gallon fruit juice bottle. It doesn't collapse, but it cinches down tight and won't leak. Well, at least I have never had one leak on me. The convolutions on the bottle make for an easy grip and prevent it from rolling as easily as a normal bottle might.

That's not for the volume, it's for the wide mouth. Maybe there are quart containers with a wide mouth, but at the time I never came across one.

Is this going to be cyclist version of a "truckers bomb" bet you can't use it on the go like them there truckers.  Actually always amazed me how they can use coke bottle! No I don't really want to know thank you. 
I use an old water bottle making sure it's not kept at night with the others, 'cos I agree at my age getting up and out of the tent 2/3 times a night is a pain.

Cannot imagine why you would even consider anything except the most secure and carefully color-coded bottle you could find. Foldable? That's just silly. Mountianeers and winter campers have been doing this for decades: standard Nalgene wide mouth liter wrapped with fluorescent yellow relfector tape augmented with skull and crossbones stickers or those little cartoon peeing boys.

Foldable because after emptying and cleaning in the AM, it is easily compactable.  Stores away easily. No big lump taking up a lot of space.
