On maps 1 and 2, the Ambridge-Aliquippa bridge is closed for repairs. It will reopen in November, 2012, and close again next spring, 2013, for another 9 months or so. Here is a  9 mi. detour. Ohio River Blvd./SR 65 has a narrow shoulder and curbs so this detour takes you off the highway where it can. If you don't want to ride off and onto the highway you can continue on it for the entire length.
NB: On map 1, from the corner of Merchant St. and 11th St. in Ambridge, continue straight. In 0.2 mi., turn right onto 14th St. In 0.2 mi., turn left onto Duss Ave./SR 989. In 2.5 mi. enter Baden. Route becomes State St. In 1.0 mi., merge right onto Ohio River Blvd./SR 65. In 0.4 mi., at Virginia Ave., bear slightly right/continue straight onto State St. which becomes Beaver Rd., then 1st Ave. in Conway. In 1 mi., merge onto Ohio River Blvd./SR 65. In 1.5 mi., merge onto 3rd Ave. and follow it through the town of Freedom. In 1 mi., merger onto Ohio River Blvd./SR 65. In 1.5 mi., in Rochester, rejoin route at the junction of SR 51/65 and SR 18. See Detail A. 
SB: On map 2 Detail A, from the junction of SR 18 and SR 51/65 in Rochester, continue southeast on SR 51/65. In 1.5 mi. merge right and over SR 65 onto 3rd Ave. in Freedom. In 1 mi., merge right and over SR 65 onto Ohio River Blvd./SR 65. In 1.5 mi., in Conway, turn left onto 11th St. Go 1 block and turn right onto 2nd Ave. Go 1 block and turn right onto 10th St. Go 1 block and turn left onto 1st Ave. which becomes Beaver Rd., then W. State St. In 1 mi., at Virginia Ave. at light, use crosswalk across Ohio River Blvd./SR 65 and turn left onto Ohio River Blvd./SR 65. In 0.4 mi., turn left onto State St. Baden. In 3 mi., in Ambridge, turn right onto 14th St. In 0.2 mi., turn left onto Merchant St. In 0.2 mi., rejoin route at the corner of Merchant St. and 11th St.
