By "this section" do you mean this discussion board in the forum? This is where cyclists discuss routes and many other aspects of travel by bicycle. Many of us are ACA members, but not all. Find the routes themselves in the Routes and Mapping section of the association's web site at http://www.adventurecycling.org/index.cfm.

If I understand your question correctly, the answer is "lack of interest," evidenced by the fact that yours is the third topic posted in the fifteen months that this board has been available.

I'd love to see info on both locations. After living in AK for 8-9 years I'm pretty sure I a good idea what the will look like :p I'm sure the distance between services would be a bugger.

THere are some pretty good write ups from those that have started up in Northern AK and going south. I'm still reading the Vogel's trip blog in AK...

We have discussed both Alaska and Hawaii as possibilities for expanding our route network.

In Alaska, there aren't that many roads. Services can be difficult to come by and may even vary from year to year. Though geared toward RVs, The Milepost publication, found here: http://www.themilepost.com/, is probably the best resource for gathering that information. It is updated and reprinted often (annually, I believe) which we do not have the resources to do.

As for Hawaii, the list of researchers volunteering for this assignment is long! ;-) It's a possible destination in the future but is not currently on the schedule. Again, there are not a lot of road choices for most of the islands and getting from island to island is no cheap feat with a bicycle. Also, there are many books available on the subject. We have heard there are plans for an inter-island ferry system in the future and this would be an attractive feature that might interest us in doing it sooner.
