getting insurance for UK rider in N America

Hi,  I'm a UK national who intends to ride from Vancouver to Tijuana, beginning the trip in the second week in April.  A plan to stretch the ride over 3-4 months.  After a couple of calls to insurance providers I'm struggling to get cover for a period of more than 3 consecutive months.  Anybody got any ideas?  thanks

As far as I know you are only allowed to stay in USA for 90 days on a tourist visum. I'm from Denmark and I can get an insurance for as many days as I want to.

After lots of research and even more small print reading, I went with CTC for my 3month trip in the US.  They offered the best cover, protection etc etc for a UK cyclist.

BMC - British Mountaineering Council does longer cover.  I used the "Trek" level for a 3 month tour in the USA 2009.  A quick quote now gives £341 for worldwide cover for 4 months.

I haven't gone back through the small print so can't confirm Trek level still covers cycle touring.

Mondial also do cover for longer than 3 months. I used them for a last year. They were much cheaper than BMC.

I can't see cover details on the website but there is an e-mail address to ask about it. If they confirm by e-mail that cycle touring is covered it avoids any get outs if the policy wording is something like "cycling" and they try and later claim it only means occasional cycling.

The French branch of Mondial certainly covered Leo Woodland when he needed repatriated from Boston.

Hi after lots of research and reading of small print, comparing prices, (good that my other half is a solicitor and likes reading all that small print).  In the end the best deal with all the cover I needed for my TransAm, I went with CTC who have their policy with Citybond Suretravel.  Only cost £175 for a single trip 1 year cover.  Best we found
