Bike Route

I take a cross country trip with my bicycle once a year just to see the world and it's been just amazing. My next trip is going from Utah to Colorado then to San Antonio Tx. Is there any save and direct back roads from Colorado to Tx ?
Otherwise i could just get a ride and drive the first few days until it's safer to ride again. I have looked online for the trip from Utah to Colorado and it is pretty save with big shoulders to ride and there will be plenty of campgrounds to stay in until colorado.
Any advice would be great.

Are you worried about the Colorado or Texas portion being safe?  Where are you going to end/start in Colorado?  At what point in Texas do you consider it safe (you imply you feel it is safe by saying "until it is safer to ride again.")?  Colorado does not have too many paved county roads in the south but the traffic counts are pretty low on the highways.  Give more info and maybe help can be provided.

I'll be starting in provo utah and heading north to east and aim towards ft. collins. After ridng a one week local tour in Colorado i'll be heading south towards san antonio tx. I am not to worried about the trucks and big traffic i am mostly worried about the shoulders on the road or if there are any actual campgrounds or rv campgrounds from Ft. Collins Colorado to San Antonio Tx ?
I could do some research about the route but i might not find much but any good ideas or suggestions would be great.
I thought that most states should have good side roads somewhere for cyclists but from colorado to tx is a long haul anyways so i have to see on the maps which is the easiest and fastest road down south.

You might want to see if you can get either a bicycling specific map or at the very least a suitability map that shows things like shoulder widths and traffic counts from the states you want to ride through. The best place to start looking for that info is here:
