Yawn, sorry but just read her article and it's the same old popularist rubbish that gets churned out by someone who has nothing new to say. Same in the press over here in UK. Short on ideas for a column this week, let's wind up the cyclists and the minority of bigoted motorists who all feed on this garbage. Always get's a response and then we can point out to our advertisers how popular this rag is.

I see the same stuff on the home town forum in Celebration Fl. (meant to be a modern forward thinking town) the canal boat forum in UK and hate to think what's on any of the motoring forums.

The one thing I agree with MC is for sure I don't want to share a road with her as a motorist "fuming" is certainly not a safe motorist and maybe if she gets help with her anger then cyclists might not be such an anathema to her and we can all safely share the road and look at the real problems of mixed traffic.

Will read her article again as having touble going to sleep yawm yawn.

Just starting to record my trips  www.tonystravels.com

Sounds like she has issues, other than being too sorry to get up and out of the house early enough to arrive safely (and LEGALLY,speeding IS a crime) on time for work...

What I found interesting was the high number of "comments" posted that trash her opinion/position. In many other instances, the opposite is true.

Melissa, you have overlooked one overarching point of fact.  CYCLISTS RULE. In fact Westinghouse would love to lean on your car anytime, and I'm sure you keep up quite a pace at that. If I were to see you while I was approaching an intersection, I would have a hard time keeping my mind on traffic too. I'd definitely want to stop and lean. I'd even offer you a ride on the handlebars. Besides being a strikingly good looking woman who is frustrated with the world of mechanized rapid transportation, what  else can you tell me about yourself? Have you ever tried long-distance bicycle touring? If I make it out of the Middle East alive, I would like to introduce you to a transcontinental bicycling tour, Westinghouse style. It'll make you tough,  less susceptible to the every-day stresses and frustrations of the sedentary life, and maybe you would like me after it is done. Are you married?

She should be in raise of the bikers because by riding, they reduce the car traffic and therefore reduce gridlock.  That said, there are many many rude cyclists that give us a bad name.  I see this a lot in Seattle.  They do arrogantly run red lights and sometimes ride side by side, holding up traffic.  I too have become irritated at them when driving. They need to get a clue and realize they are a part of the road scene, not above it.
May the wind be at your back!

Well, I can see her point, and I would definitely like to reduce her gridlock.
