Gravel roads leading into the TramsAM Teton Spur?
« on: April 09, 2013, 12:57:41 pm »
Hey all, I will be traveling the TransAM this summer and taking the Teton Spur on my way. Due to being a completely broke college student, I will be doing the trip on my road bike instead of a touring bike. My question is in regards to the gravel roads leading to and from Jackson on the Teton Spur. Exactly how graveley are we talking? I've been on trails with tightly packed small-grained gravel with my road bike and haven't had a problem. But if it's super chunky loose gravel I'll have to skip the spur. Any thoughts/help would be greatly appreciated!

You do not need to take the Wilson Road (part gravel but quite rideable) since they now have a paved separate bike path from near Jenny Lake to Jackson.  The spur along Wilson is more scenic but the other is quite nice also.
