UPDATE 9/16/2013:  As Carla noted below, the land slides have been cleared and Rainy Pass has been open again since 9/12.

UPDATE 9/6/2013:  More heavy rain has triggered more land slides, so Rainy Pass is closed again.

Original closure report:

WA State Route 20 is closed indefinitely at Rainy Pass (between Newhalem and Winthrop) due to multiple land slides.

Nearest detour route is US Highway 2 over Stevens Pass to the south.

It reopened on Sept. 12.
