Underground Railroad Tour with Teens
« on: May 17, 2012, 12:51:05 pm »
Hi there,

I am in the early stages of planning a summer bike trip along the Underground Railroad route.  I will be taking a handful of teens who will be learning history, math, science, social studies and life along the way.  I'm really excited to see this to fruition, and I was just wondering if anyone else has taken on this route with teens.  If so, how did it go?  How did the teens react, evolve, mature..etc?

Thank you!

Hi there,

This is so great! Bronx Labs school has done pretty much what you'd like to do and might be a good model to follow or get advice from.

We featured them on our blog: http://blog.adventurecycling.org/2010/09/bronx-lab-school-students-tour.html

And this is their blog on a few year's worth of journeys: http://web.mac.com/bronxlab/BLS-URR/Welcome.html

Good luck and report back on how it goes.

.Jennifer.
