Wow I have the same question for all those overweight, unhealthy lifestyle people pulling up to Cracker Barrel restaurant in their SUV, to choke down their lunch so they can barrel down the interstate oblivious to their surroundings. WHY DO THEY DO IT!

Yup its such a common question.

Why cycle up the steepest pass in South Africa?
Why cycle through the Kalahari and Namib deserts in summer?
Why cycle through Lapland in winter?
Why cycle in Canada in winter?

My answer is always the same....

Why wouldn't I??????

My tours are short now due to other commitments but I will answer anyway.  I enjoy camping and hiking and biking is just another way to hike.  I like the aspect of moving myself along on a bike and not driving.  I am in the process of becoming healthier so the fitness I am gaining along the way is a huge bonus.

In general camping and hiking allow me to be outdoors and clear my head.  Biking is just another way to do the same thing.
