Free camping on southern tier

Hi,
    could i  do free camping for almost every night (or less than 20$)on a winter family bike tour on southern tier route(western part)Texas to California?is it possible in eastern part too?(texas to florida)

In the west on the ST it is usually pretty easy to camp for free or cheap.  IMO it is harder in the east.

if you're used to searching out stealth camps then i think you'll have no problem.

as @staephj1 said, it's certainly much easier west of austin and occassionally you might be forced to free camp.

i went across in the summer when a lot of the desert areas were empty. the rv parks would usually let me camp and have a shower for free or at least very cheap. always lots of people wanting to help along that route

Highway 90 in northern Florida runs through areas where free camping is easy to find. One thing about treed areas in and very near towns is this. They are often surrounded by uncrossable drainage ditches. Nice but you can't get in. Try outside the towns. There are long expanses of trees and forests. If you should happen into Ponce de Leon at day's end, try the main road going north past the grave yard. The Florida portion of the ST east of 90 has many unofficial sites for a night's sleep.
