Southern tier late 2014, east to west.
« on: December 22, 2013, 03:28:00 pm »
Hello everyone, Im from England and looking at riding the Southern tier late next year from Florida to San Diego and then up to LA.

I did initially think of doing this ride in December through to January but after reading the threads on here I am now thinking of bringing it forward to start at the beginning of November 2014.

I've scrolled through some of the comments on here and found them to be very useful. Great to know there is Nancy at Palo Verde giving great advice and support.

What I need to know is, are there plenty of motels, camping sites etc from St Augustine through the Gulf coast into Texas.

I'm planning on following a cycle friendly route from an A.C.A map which I saw online but am yet to purchase these map which I will do once Xmas is out of the way. Once I get into Texas, I go from Austin over to Del Rio then up to El Paso, and follow the familiar route into San Diego via Nancy's place.

Any information would be very much appreciated.

We may possibly meet up this fall.   I had planned on riding the Southern Tier from Florida to Austin in March of 2015, but now am really considering leaving late October in order to get to Austin by Thanksgiving.
