Car parking/lodging in Hartford for Lewis and Clark Trip?

Hubby and I are doing the Lewis and Clark Trail in six legs (years) beginning this September in Hartford Illinois. We would like to leave our car in Hartford for two weeks while we do the first 555 miles, then Rent-A-Car to come back and pick it up. Any advice on where to leave our car? Any advice on a hotel in the Hartford area that is decent and a bike-riding distance to the beginning of the trail? These two places may actually be the same place :-)
