Entries are now open for the NAB Coffs Coast Cycle Challenge, and this year riders can test themselves with an extra challenge on the day before the big event.
On Saturday 2 August the C4 Hill Climb Time Trial will challenge riders with a timed 13 km climb up the road from Coramba along the East Dorrigo Way. This is a new event for 2014 and the organisers expect to see some good times as riders test their legs. Riders will leave at 30 second intervals with the first rider away at 2pm. To join the individual time trial riders will also need to enter the NAB Coffs Coast Cycle Challenge which runs on Sunday 3 August.
If a 13km uphill ride isn’t for you, there are still plenty of other choices for the NAB Coffs Coast Cycle Challenge. This popular charity road ride is run by the Coffs City Rotary. Each year hundreds of riders come to cycle along the quiet local roads riding from the Coffs Harbour beaches into the Bellingen hills and back. There are lots of choices from the 100km solo challenge, teams options, 60km solo and a 20km or 10km family ride.
The 60km and 100km options are a great way to set yourself a challenge to ride further or faster than you’ve ridden before. If you are an experienced rider then why not challenge your mates to train for the distance and help them achieve their goals. There are also rides for the family, so encourage your partner and children to come along and enjoy the 10km or 20km family ride this year.
The NAB Coffs Coast Cycle Challenge is proving its popularity with more and more riders every year, the ride grew from 460 to 731 riders in 2013, and the organisers are preparing themselves for double that number this year.
