Green Mt. Loop alternate

Doing the Green Mt. Loop in Vermont in a week or so, and our group does not have enough time to do the entire loop.  Starting near Burlington and going in a clockwise direction, we are considering leaving the ACA route in Lyndonville (near St. Johnsbury) and riding through So. Wheelock, Stannard, and Greensboro Bend before jumping on rt. 15 near Hardwick.  Then taking rt. 15 west all the way to Cambridge.  If anyone can shed any light on the riding conditions/grades along this proposed alternative, I would greatly appreciate it!  Also, if anyone has any recommended backroads to take us from Cambridge north to Sheldon Springs, that would be very helpful also.
