Marine City to Muskegon

I'm looking for a pleasant route across southern MI. I have been told NOT to take Rt 57 even though it looks to have ok shoulders. If possible, I would like to use the trails which run from Grand Rapids to Muskegon (Musketawa Trail) so if I can find a nice route to GR from Marine City, that would be great. Thanks for any advice.

Bry,
I took M-57 across and it was better then M-21 on a previous tour, less traffic.
I used Goolge maps to map my route and it kept on secondary roads, which was kind of boring, besides no stores to stock up on drinks (the temps were in the 90's, so I was drinking alot of Powerades) so I had rode upto to M-57 for most of the way and had no trouble at all.
