Connecting Pacific Coast Trail to Sierra Cascade Trail south of Coos Bay

I'm planning a solo tour for this July, and I plan to do the Pacific Coast Trail from Vancouver to southern Oregon, and then I want to ride over to the Sierra Cascade Trail. I have friends in Bandon, OR, so I plan to go east after Bandon. Any thoughts on a connecting route? I will be traveling alone so would prefer to stay in designated campsites rather than somewhere on the side of the road. Thanks!
