Hello from Twin Bridges, Montana

Hi, my name is Adam and I am the Library Director of the Twin Bridges Public Library.  Since we are on the Transamerica Trail I figured I would pop in and let your community know a few things about our town.

First, we have a FREE camp for cyclists right in town.  It is for the exclusive use of touring riders.  As a bonus, it sits right next to the beautiful Beaverhead River and there is a good stretch of about a mile of river that is accessible for the public right by the camp and across the street at the county fairgrounds. 

We have two restaurants, two bars, a general store, fly shops and a few churches.

Finally, the best attraction we offer is our public library.  Ok, I'm biased.  Anyway, we are very cyclist friendly at the library and we encourage any curious cyclist passing through to make use of our wifi, use a computer, hang out, read, fill water bottles or doze off on the couch.

Some folks who have passed this way in the past may have met our local cycling enthusiast Robert Klein.  He passed away in early March so I wanted to honor his memory by stopping in this forum to welcome all cyclists to stop in our community, look around and of course, stop in the library.

I'd like to thank the town of Twin Bridges. I was well aware of your hospitality before I arrived and I made a special point of spending the night there. It was a very enjoyable experience. Your bike camp was responsible for getting at least two restaurant meals out of me. You didn't mention this, but the grass around your bike camp is soft, luscious and beautiful--good place for a snooze.

But maybe you could answer a trivia question for me. The town is called "Twin Bridges," but I could only find one. Where is the other one?

The camp wasn't there yet when we rode through in 2007, but I remember it being a nice friendly town.  It is so good to hear that the camp is there now.  I would definitely make it a point to stay there if I do the trans america again.  Thanks to all that made the camp possible.

Spent the night in TB in '11 during a loop ride in MT. Stayed at the Bike Camp and had lunch and breakfast the next morning at the Wagon Wheel. Good burger. Bought some salmon steaks at the grocery store and had a BBQ. Got some sandwiches for the road the next day from the coffee hut place. But since it was July 4th, the library was closed.

Planning to spend another night at the Bike Camp on June 23rd of this year after riding into town via Melrose Bench Road. I will make an effort to stop by.

+1 on the niceness of the lawn at the camp. As for the name, see this:

Guess the second bridge is gone, although there is a bridge across the Big Hole River on Melrose Bench Road (a/k/a Melrose Twin Bridges Country Road) which dumps you onto MT 41 at the fair grounds
