If you are taking the "Marfa detour", & pass through Valentine, Texas on a school day, you can obtain water & possibly food at the school. Water is free & they sold me chicken burritos at $2 apiece two weeks ago.

Probably best to call ahead.

We called ahead on our tour (early March) and the library gave us all the water we wanted (on the main highway). Did not try the school but that sounds like an option also, as you state.

As you're aware, on that section Valentine is the only possible stop for any services.

This web page has the library info...at the bottom of the page.. The top library is in Fort Davis.
