Lewis and Clark route: Traffic concerns?
« on: July 25, 2014, 07:14:38 am »
Hello: I am contemplating an East/West traverse of the L and C route next summer, `15. Before I commit, however, I'd like to hear some feedback on traffic through certain portions, particularly North Dakota. I know there have been concerns, re-routes, etc., due to fracking industry traffic, and would appreciate thoughts from anyone who has ridden this section recently, as to whether or not you feel it was a worthwhile ride. Thanks!

My wife and I are currently in Portland and started our cross country ride in Delaware. We picked up the L&C in St. Louis. It has been a fantastic route! You can check out our blog on Crazyguyonabike. It is call"Undaunted Perseverance Acrees America "

Tom,
ACA rerouted the L&C in ND to address those very concerns, It gets away from the Missouri River for a while, but also avoids the oil boom traffic in the Williston area. The problem is it also takes one away from Ft. Mandan and their beautiful new Visitor's Center.

Ride safe,
Hans
