Difference on maps?
« on: August 01, 2014, 11:33:34 pm »
Just pulled put the Pacific Coast map and noticed it is a different format than other ACA maps. It appears to be a 2012, are there newer ones? The thing I miss is the mileage chart on each panel.

Which section specifically are you looking at (1-5)? Most of the PC sections are from 2012. There is one updated in 2014 (Section 1), and another that will be updated very soon (Section 3). Section 5 is still from 2011.

I'm not exactly sure what you're missing. I have the TransAm set, the Northern Tier set and the Pacific Coast set (just acquired a few weeks ago). They all have the same information as far as I can see. I'm not exactly sure what you mean by a "mileage chart", but every panel of my set has a little graphic that shows you the scale (i.e., how far is a mile). Are you missing something else?

We are just finishing the Lewis & Clark. The map panels have a elevation profile along with mileage chart. Also on the map it would show mileage between point byway of black dots. These features are not on the Subject maps.

Maybe a bit off topic, but the ODOT bicycle map of the coast is free and IMO easier to use while riding than the AC maps.   The mileage and countour are laid out in a very intuitive way that works great for this route. The AC maps have additional info that I liked having as reference material, but for on the bike I found the ODOT map much nicer.  So for the Oregon section I highly recommend picking one up.  Bike shops there generally have them.  If you re still in Astoria or about to go there I know that the bike shop there usually has them.

Not all of our routes have elevation profiles, older maps that have them are in a single strip on the back side of the map. Beginning with the Lewis & Clark route, we started adding them to the individual panels.

Pacific Coast 1, 2 and 3 have been updated with GIS information and some new formatting. The black dots have been replaced with red karats and red numbers in between to show those distances.

I hope this helps,
.Jennifer.
