new Blackburn Outpost Front World Touring Rack
« on: December 03, 2014, 05:20:49 pm »
Has anyone seen...tried or taken a picture of this rack on their touring bike?  I have been using a combination Blackburn F1 frontrack with lowriders for 30 years.  I like the upper platform for a spare tire and multiple rack mount positions should the rack fail.  Broke the low rider in Utah and replaced it all with a Surly Nice Front rack.  The Surly would probably last another 30 years, but is twice the weight.  Any feedback about this new rack is appreciated.

I don't have any personal experiences with the Outpost Front World Touring Rack, but I do have a Rear World Touring Rack. I purchased it late summer and used it for a week long self contained tour and for some commuting. Overall, I'm impressed with the rack.

I spent the extra money on this rack for the lighter weight. The installation was easy and the rack is sturdy and handled my Ortlieb panniers just fine. I like the multiple hanging options. I think you will be impressed with the build and quality of the Front World Touring Rack based on my experience with the rear version.

In between the Surly, which does weigh a ton, and this is the Nitto Big front rack. Super-strong with a large platform. However, it's twice the price of the Outpost.

There is no info on the website regarding the rack's weight.

Jenson has it for $99.99 and lists the weight as 1lb 14oz (with all mounting hardware).

Interesting that the top platform is removable.
