The bridge crossing Sarpy Creek on Old US 10 about 3 miles east of Hysham is closed and will likely remain closed through summer 2015. The "official" detour eastbound from Hysham is to go south to I-94 (exit 67) then east on I-94 to Sarpy Creek Road (also signed as Sarpy Road (exit 72) then back north to Old US 10 which adds 4+ miles.  If you want a shorter detour, there is a gravel road on the opposite side of the railroad tracks that parallels Old US 10. From either direction, ride on Old US 10 until the road that crosses the railroad closest to the bridge closure (you can see the bridge closure at this point), cross the railroad, ride the gravel road (walk if the gravel is too loose to ride) past the bridge closure, then cross the railroad back to Old US 10.  It is between 1/2 to 3/4 mile of gravel between the two railroad crossings.
