Getting From Edmonton To Banff For GDMBR Grand Depart?
« on: May 10, 2015, 01:33:49 pm »
Hey guys, planning to take my first shot at the Divide this summer but of course there is a late problem that I need to solve. I am flying into Edmonton to stay with a friend about a week before the start of the Tour Divide and he was originally going to drive me to Banff a day or two before the Grand Depart. Unfortunately he has been scheduled on a work trip now and will not be able to drive me anymore.

I was wondering if anyone out there has any suggestions on the best/cheapest way to get from Edmonton to Banff? Budget is tight enough as it is for this adventure!

Also if anyone was planning on leaving from the Edmonton area for the start in Banff and would be willing to let me tag along I could chip in for gas, etc. (27 year old married male)

Thank you!

Leave Edmonton early. Ride your bike to Banff. Get a good warmup in the mountains north of Banff.

Here is the route. Turn south at the Icefields Parkway, Hwy 93, toward Banff.

Have a great trip.
