shuttle or transport from Missoula to Banff
« on: June 13, 2015, 05:21:15 pm »
Does anyone know of a convenient way to get a shuttle or transportation to Banff from Missoula.  I'm flying into Missoula mid-August with Bike and BOB trailer and want to start a portion of the Great Divide Route from Banff.  Limited to time so round trip not an option.

I'm planning to ride a portion of the Great Divide Route from Banff to the Missoula area.  Flying into Missoula mid-August with bike, BOB and gear.  Does anyone know a direct and convenient way to get a shuttle / transport up to Banff without stopovers in Vancouver, New York or Hong Kong?

One way car rental may be the only way in the least amount of time and the fewest stops and overnight stays between modes of transportation.
I Googled Missoula-Banff. Bus, train, automobile rental. It was comical.
The cyclist friendly Hostel in Whitefish, MT offers shuttle service. I have no idea what the cost is or if they go as far as Banff.
You might be better off flying to Calgary and riding your bike to Banff on secondary roads.

You might start with the companies listed on our Great Divide Shuttle Options pdf found under the Logistics tab on the Great Divide Mountain Bike page:

Hope that helps,

Venchka,

The Whitefish Bike Retreat is pretty great! We've actually got them listed as a shuttle resource on the pdf I referenced above. =)

Just to clarify things, there are two hostels in/around Whitefish. The Whitefish Bike Retreat (the one with shuttle service talked about above) is located about 7 miles outside of downtown Whitefish.

Then there is the Whitefish Hostel, which is right in town, just a few blocks from the Amtrak stop:
