Can anyone give us some info about where we can get water in that stretch? We are going to take it slow since we have some extra time but don't want to stop at a camping site without water without having had a fill up option.  We don't have a purifying system (well, we do but it takes 4 hours and is for emergency use). thanks!

And by Lucille I meant Lowell.

There are several campgrounds along that route, most with potable water. They are right off the road, so you won't waste much distance. If memory serves me right, I think I refilled at the Wilderness Gateway Campground before wild camping on down the road.

As John said, there are several campgrounds along US 12 and are listed on the map. Here's the USFS link where you can click on the campground name and see if it has water.

My memory is fuzzy on where we got water along that stretch, but I don't recall having to carry a lot of extra water there or having any trouble finding water frequently enough.  I think we found free camping that had water every overnight stop on that section as well as water in between the camping spots.  Stuff was pretty well covered on the AC maps for the section.

True, we also had no problem, though we did carry a 4 liter water bladder on stretches where we were worried.
