Bicycle Route 66, Section 1 - Road closure Sept 2015
« on: September 14, 2015, 06:52:19 pm »
The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) announced that Burnham Avenue will be fully closed to traffic at the Northern Indiana Commuter Transportation
District’s South Shore Line tracks, just south of Brainard Avenue, for repairs to the railroad crossing, beginning, weather permitting, at 8 a.m. Monday, Sept. 14.
The project will be complete by 7 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 26.

To get around this road closure, from Avenue O on the north side of the construction, take 126th St., Torrance Ave., Cleveland Ave. to meet back up with the Burnham Greenway Trail just north of turn E on Map 1.  See this link for a map of the detour:

Use caution on Torrance Ave., especially on the bridges.  Walk bike on sidewalk if needed.
