Great Divide Mtn. Bike route: Gen. conditions?

Hey, Mtn. Bikers:

I was astonished at the damage to roads from Canada to New Mexico.  Can anyone comment on the current conditions?  It's a been a couple of years, but damn!  That's a great journal, btw.
