As the OP for this thread, thought I should check back in. I bought the Marrakesh and I love it. It fits great, feels great, and is such a fun ride. Looking forward to many, many adventures together!
Good for you - not letting anyone talk you out of buying the bike that you like. I'm sure it will bring you a lot of pleasure.

I don't recall anyone trying to talk the OP out of buying it, we just pointed out there were equivalent alternatives that he might consider.

2) 10 speed road shifters do not work with  9 speed mountain bike derailleurs--mountain bike shifting over shifts and settles into position and road shifting moves exactly where it wants to go and demands that everything else follow along.
3) 10 speed chains want 10 speed jockey wheels.

I disagree.  I use 10 speed Shimano 105 triple STI shifters on one bike.  Bike has a 9 speed Shimano Deore mountain bike rear derailleur.  11-32 10 speed cassette.  Perfect shifting.

Count your blessing then.  My experience was different.

Just bought mine!  Love it.  The geo is spot on.  And no they are not all the same (trek, LHT, novarra). Frame material and geo matter. LHT tubing is not the same 😎😎. I own a 2016 trek 520 (in New England) and a LHT here in Colorado. I can say that at least for my size the marrakesh is the better bike....  Components not withstanding

I've got the Marrakesh, and I really like it.  I've got it all tricked out for a tour this summer with front and rear panniers and a dynamo hub for a Luxos U
