The Great Divide

Hi, I read Cycling the Great Divide by Michael McCoy and I was wondering... If you only had 4 to 5 days to experience this ride which part would you recommend. We would go mid July. We are a family of four: two teenaged of 14 and 16 and us...well parents we won't tell our age. We go 4 to 5 times  per year mountain biking to  Kingdom trail and Stowe in Vermont. My daughter doesn't like much mountain biking but she is pretty tough as my husband who's an avid road biking guy. And by the way are the trail dog friendly?
