Do not waste your money buying wheels built by Peter White Cycles. You will probably get better quality wheels built at your local bicycle shop that come with an honored guarantee.
If Peter White recommends the rim, spokes, and hub, his website says his wheel comes with a lifetime guarantee. His website says if he cannot guarantee his wheel components he will not sell them. Do NOT believe it!
I ordered an expensive set of touring wheels based all on Peter's recommendation. The rim on the rear wheel split almost completely around the wheel after about 7 months and I had not even gone on the 3000 mile loaded tour yet. When I called Mr. White about his guarantee he said he does not guarantee his rims. I ended up taking my wheels to a local bicycle shop and had both of Peter White's recommended rims replaced at my own expense.
Upon closer inspection of the Peter White Cycles website, I noticed it says, "If your rims do not wear out, you are not riding your bike enough." I have never had a rim wear out in 45 years, even on those rims used with brake pads for many years. My current bicycle has disk brakes so there is abrasive wear on the rim at all.
The wording I failed to notice on Peter's White's website says, "My guarantee does not cover rim wear." Hence Peter's decision to not live up to his guarantee stated in the second paragraph on his website, "If I recommend the rim, spokes and hub for you, it comes with my lifetime guarantee." Deceitful advertising to say the least. The only thing Peter White guarantees is his spokes.
There was no rim wear at all on my almost new wheels when the rim failed in a big way. When I received my wheels I was surprised by the extreme tension on the wheels, but Peter White is the professional wheelbuilder so I did not question the tension. Hindsight is 20-20.
Peter White builds his wheels in such a way that he expects his rims to fail. And I can vouch for the fact that Peter White's recommended rims that he guarantees but does not guarantee, do fail.
