Trans America #10 Map 117, Great Rivers South #2 Map 18. Sinkhole - 2016

There is a sinkhole affecting SR 146 in Hardin County Illinois just West of Elizabethtown. This affects  Trans Am Section 10 Map 117 and Great Rivers South Section 2, Map 18. The road is currently closed. The Illinois DOT is putting gravel into the sinkhole to try to fill it up but it is not safe to cross. There is a detour in place but it might be fairly long. A partially gravel alternate appears to be available just north of SR 146/34 using CR 435N and 185E. See images below.

As of 5/2, there are reports that this road closure is no longer in effect. Check the Illinois DOT for confirmation.
