Is Rockport the closest grocery store to Colonial Peak Campground from the west?

It's Colonial Creek. I believe there is still a small grocery store in Newhalem. Look them up and give them a call re: their selection. Many years ago we fed 13 people with supplies from that store, but that was some time ago.  BTW...The county park in Rockport has Adirondack shelters, which are quite handy if it's cold and wet.

There are grocery stores, and then there are grocery stores. Do you count a store with pop tarts and bananas as a grocery store? Especially in very small towns, it's best to assume that the store will be closed when you get there. You can get some limited supplies in Marblemount, and there's a restaurant there (I ate there). The store in Newhalem was closed when I went through. Always carry enough food to keep you going.

I camped at Colonial Creek. It can be a pretty lonely place, depending on when you are there.

Google Maps comes up with this 2010 photo of the Skagit General Store in Newhalem. Possibly the one that indyfabz refers to. You may want to try finding a phone number to learn if it still is in business.

The Newhalem store is still in operation but has very limited hours.  I just completed the WA portion of the NT route and luckily remembered to get a few extra food items in Mazama, just before I started my way across the North Cascades as when I made it to Newhalem, the small market was closed on weekends.  I believe that changes after Memorial day and they will have better hours.
