Looking for touring rides appropriate for 4-7 days (perhaps a bit longer but less than two weeks.  My riding partner is not a camping type of person so camping  is out,  which I realize will  limit options.   We enjoyed the our Natchez Trace ride but since we did it in the winter,  we had to push hard most afternoons to make it to our lodging before dark.

Work obligations make it difficult to get away for more than two weeks at a time for a few more years but we'd like to log more touring miles with what time we can make available.

Your experiences and ideas are appreciated.  Thanks!

Off the top of my head:

I would think indoor lodging would not be a rarity.

I can recommend a couple of Wisconsin tour operators, Pedal Across Wisconsin and Around Wisconsin Bike Tours.  Coming north is a great way to cool down in the middle of the summer -- that and listening to the locals complaining about "It's just too hot when it gets in the 80s!"

My wife, who is not really a cyclist, and I did the Natchez Trace from S to N and stayed in some delightful B & Bs. It's a great intro to bike touring for a tyro. There was one stretch where we ended up camping but with better planning you could avoid that. We used http://www.natcheztracetravel.com/ and they were great, we booked one day at a time so we didn't have to commit to a schedule which can be hard on a beginner if you overestimate your abilities. I highly recommend it. The booking service is quite picky about who it recommends and we found them excellent value for money.
