bike racks for car (trunk style)

I have a Thule bike rack that is about 4 years old which works fine for my road bike. But the cradle won't accomodate the larger top tube of my Trek 920. Do you have suggestions for car bike racks that will accept the larger top tubes that I'm seeing in newer bikes (adventure, mountain, etc)?

I like the Saris Bones 3 bike rack.  Not the 2 bike rack.  It accommodates bikes with a top tube.  Men's diamond frame bikes.  Might not work for mixte and full suspended mountain bikes.

I'm partial to the Saris Bones, both the 2 and 3 bike models.  That said,  the use of a top tube adapter, available from Thule, Yakima, Allen Sports and I'm sure others allows just about any rack to fit any bike.

Can you modify the cradle to accept a larger tube?  Strap it down with an added strap instead of the factory rubber band?  Does Thule offer replacement cradles for your model rack?

I've used rubber padding (old tubes, etc), rags,  and bungee cords to get bikes on racks when, for various reasons, the fit is not working.

Thank your for your suggestions. The top tube adaptor didn't work since the sway cage wouldn't fit between the adaptor and the top tube. Couldn't find an easy way to modify the cradle (that left me confident that it would hold).

I ended up buying the Saris SUPERbones 3 bike trunk rack.
