ACA Maps on my Garmin Edge 1000

HI Folks,
 I am planning on doing the Southern Tier next year and aside from the ACA maps I also purchased the digital download for my Garmin Edge 1000, which I am slowly getting accustomed to. I was reading about its limitations on the forum and was concerned. I loaded the maps onto a micro SD card, but didn't know how to bring them up  on the GPS. I called Garmin and they said I would have no problem loading all the required maps on the internal memory. I loaded them onto New Files and then they went over to courses on the device. Does this sound about right. Not sure how the 200 waypoint limitation comes into play.

I recd a message from Garmin and was advised that the Edge 1000 has all the bike maps for the US and no other maps are needed. I imagine the ACA maps may take you different ways.

I recently road to Julian from San Diego and the Edge did take me a way I had never taken before and had much less traffic. That said, I imagine the ACA maps will show the service areas like the paper maps.

Not sure how the 200 waypoint limitation comes into play.

From the Adventure Cycling website regarding the 200 point limit on the Garmin Edge 1000 as it related to the service points:

Service Points

We do not recommend using the service points on the Edge 1000 yet. We have found the following limitations:

The device can only store 200 waypoints at any one time, regardless of where the file is stored. In a majority of cases, that will be enough for one section only. As you travel from one section to the next, you will need to remove old points before adding new ones.
Deleting and replacing points is very difficult. We have found only 1 way to do this:
Manually deleting points one at a time on the device
Consider viewing service points using your mobile device. It offers larger screen, quick browsing, higher capacity for all points along a route, and more details about each point.

If you still want to use the service points on your Edge device accounting for the limitations, see the FAQ on this subject for more information.

Great choice. The Edge 1000 is a superb device. Review the detailed instructions for loading routes onto the unit.

Yes, what you have done is great. You are good to go.

The limit of 200 waypoints is for services along the route. These will work far better on a mobile device per Jennifer's note earlier.

I am a little confused and would appreciate some clarification.  I had been considering the Garmin Edge 1000 for the Atlantic Coast, Bar Harbor to Key West, ride.  However, it appears I misunderstood the 200 limitation.
My understanding from this discussion is that I can purchase the Garmin Edge 1000 THEN purchase and download ALL seven (7) Atlantic Coast digital download sections to the Garmin Edge 1000 (minus the service points / waypoints) without Garmin Edge 1000 gps capacity limitation.  Once downloaded (pre-ride) to the Garmin Edge 1000, it will give me turn by turn direction for the entire ride Bar Harbor, ME to Key West, FL without having to periodically load more sections to the Garmin during the ride.  Is that correct? 
I don't plan to take an ipad, laptop, etc in order to load additional digital sections during the ride.  I simply wish to load all seven (7) sections, go to Bar Harbor and ride to Key West by the seven (7) digital download sections loaded pre-ride.  Can I do so?  Thanks!!

As stated above, the 200 point limit only refers to the SERVICE POINTS. I believe you will be able to load all the route tracks you need onto your Garmin Edge 1000 before you leave.

That is correct. You can load the entire set of tracks once for the entire trip.

Pay close attention navigation notes. Specifically, "Do not rely on turn-by-turn instructions. While they work most of the time, they give false confidence of their reliability. There are many areas where the device does not calculate the route correctly. This will vary depending on device, base map and apps. We highly recommend you simply follow the track line on your screen to avoid incorrect turn prompts."
