Trans-Canada Trail Bike Route

A friend and I are planning on biking the Trans-Canada Trail (TCT) from Banff to Ottawa this August! According to the Trans-Canada Trail website the trail is only 80% complete, we were wondering if anyone has recently cycled along any parts of the trail through Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Ontario and can give us an idea of the condition of the trail. i.e are some parts only appropriate for mountain bikes or will we be fine on hybrid bikes? 

Any other tips or advice would be really appreciated

How was your trip Reneekalya? Not sure about travelling the Trans Canada #1 highway. Busy road in the summer. I know of two cyclists that have lost there lives biking, Near portage La Prairie in Manitoba. Also met a Himalayan Monk that walked across Canada one summer.
