Timing for Western Express westbound

Thinking I might like to do this route this year going westbound Pueblo to Tahoe area. Carson pass probably not a factor as from there I'd more likely head either north along SC route or south down the 395.

I'm really not familiar with Rockies weather as I only have done the TA through that area during July, and was good weather throughout. But I've heard you can have storms pretty much anytime. Also sounded like there were plenty of little passes in Nevada where you could conceivably get snow.

So should a May 15 or June 1 start date generally work out ok, and how much cold weather should I be prepared for? Is mid-June in Nevada/Utah already very hot?
