TransAmerica - Rose Lodge to Florence Option???
« on: August 10, 2017, 05:46:44 pm »
Good day,
Has anyone biked US 101 from Rose Lodge, OR to Florence, OR??
I am planning an Eastbound Transamerica ride next summer.  Looking at the maps, when you get to Rose Lodge, OR, you turn and head east to just short of Salem, OR (then South to Eugene).  I was wondering if it would be a nice alternative to keep heading south at Rose Lodge along US 101 and ride to Florence, OR and then turn west to Eugene.
This option would only add 30 or 40 miles total to the 4200 total.  Time is not a factor.
Anyone have any thoughts on this option???  Anyone ridden that stretch of road?
Thanks for any input!

Most of that is on the Pacific Coast Route. It's beautiful. I suggest you just get the ACA map for the Pacific Coast, section 2. Or you can just ask the Oregon DOT for their Pacific Coast bicycle map. They are very similar.

Thanks John, and great suggestion.  I just order the Section 2 map a minute ago!
