Pacific Coast Route Section #4, maps 47-49 UPDATE June 2018

Looking at a detour that would leave the coast around Moss Landing, go south through King City, then rejoin the coast at Morrow Bay. Not ideal, but is more direct than many of the alternates. Anyone have thoughts on good roads to use cycling? Thanks.

This brings up a point that really should be added to the existing maps when they're reprinted.  I'd love to see Amtrak stations on the maps.  That way riders could make plans to ride segments between stations.  Take the train to station 1.  Ride to station 2.  Take the train home.  This could work for both one day rides and week long rides, if the stations were viewable.

For folks thinking they want to slip through the closed Mud Creek section of SR 1, take warning. I just read this on a Big Sur blog:

Also, a worker at Mud Creek observed a large (truck-sized) boulder come crashing down late last week. Fortunately, it missed him, and his vehicle.

It is still not 100% stable up there and with more rains coming through the Spring, odds are something more will come down the slope.
