The Kenow Fire is west of Waterton. Parks Canada is actively managing parts of the Kenow Fire that have the potential to impact Waterton Lakes National Park. The fire is primarily in British Columbia but has ignited spot fires in the park at the northwestern boundary near Sage Pass. An evacuation alert is in effect for all of Waterton Lakes National Park.

All of Waterton Lakes National Park is closed, with the exception of:
-Townsite
-Highway 5/6 including Entrance Road to Townsite
-Chief Mountain Highway

The fire blew up and as of today the road to Waterton townsite is closed and the Chief Mountain border crossing is temporarily closed.
