Transferring purchased routes to ACA App
« on: October 14, 2017, 10:51:12 am »
I purchased and downloaded the entire Route 66 gpx tracks to my laptop. At the time I did not realize that ACA had created an App to read/display these files on my iPhone. I typically use the Pocket Earth Pro App to import .gpx tracks I create on Ride with GPX. To import .gpx files to Pocket Earth, I email the file to myself and when I view the email, I hold on the .gpx file attachment icon, it then displays a variety of Apps on my iPhone that are compatible to import the file; I choose Pocket Earth and it imports w/o any problems every time. Since I did not originally download the Route 66 files to my iPhone, they do not appear in the list of "Downloaded Routes" in the ACA App and when I email them to myself, the ACA App dopes not appear as an option to import them. Although I am quite pleased with Pocket Earth, I would like to experiment with the ACA app on a ride from Chicago to St. Louis but cannot figure out how to import them into the ACA App.

Hi Doug,

Unfortunately, the app does not accept gpx files. You must purchase the map sections from within the app. If you want to see how the app works, I believe there is access to a free set of routing to play with.

Thanks for the clarification. I purchased the in-App route from Chicago to St. Louis. The tap feature to determine distance and elevation between two points is a very useful feature. One other question: in the .gpx track version that I had previously purchased, is there a list of abbreviations for all Service Waypoints that show up when viewed in Pocket Earth?  For example LIB = Library

No, there is not an abbreviation file that comes with the date. For reference in advance, you can view all the abbreviations we use on this page:
