Continuing to collect my touring gear for my trip this summer. Was going to purchase the Pocket Rocket stove, but then ran across the complete kit...will be nice to have it all in one small, lightweight package.

Good move on the whole kit.  What else are you looking for?  Where are you touring?

Good move on the whole kit.  What else are you looking for?  Where are you touring?

I'm doing the TransAm East to West. Starting late May to 1st week of June. Will most likely start from Myrtle Beach SC and hook up with the transam trail in Eastern KY. I plan to do at least a couple one or two night short trips with all my gear in later March and April to get a feel for what I'm carrying.

For what I would consider "major" gear I have the following:

- Trek 520 Bike
- Ortlieb Handlebar bag
- Ortlieb High Vis Rear Panniers (I'm going to do rear only--no front panniers)
- MSR Hubba NX Tent
- Cook stove kit
- Garmin bike computer with speed and cadence sensors

"Major" equipment I still need to purchase:

- Lightweight sleeping bag. I don't like the confined feeling of a mummy bag, so am looking for a small, lightweight bag with square foot box
- HERO 6 camera and mounting systems (A luxury, I know, but figure if I'm going to do it, may as well capture some of it :-))
- Good riding/rain jacket -- I like Gore Tex, so probably something in their cycling line

My working list of things I still need to collect:

TransAmerica gear to get (this is a work in progress--will add things and may delete things):
- hero 6 camera, spare batteries, helmet mount, handlebar mount, tripod/stick, several data cards
- sleeping bag and pad
- master chain links
- spokes
- small tent light
- bike cleaning/maintenance kit...put one together
- matches
- small hygiene kit—shaving, soap, bug spray, tooth brush/paste, deodorant
- first aid kit
- bear spray
- 2 pair riding shorts (wear one)
- 2 pair riding liners (wear one)
- 2 shirts (wear one)
- 1 off bike Hawaii shirt
- off bike sandals or sneakers
- 1 pair off bike underwear
- 2 pair socks (wear one)
- 1 long pants lightweight
- sunglasses and readers
- 3 mophie type battery packs for charging devices
- leatherman tool
- gortex jacket
- bike mount tire pump
- battery powered rear lights and spare batteries (would rather replace batteries than charge)
- bike lock/cable
- small camp light
- small flashlight
- Duct Tape
- bungee cords
- zip lock bags
- Toilet paper and paper towels
- zip ties
- Magic towels — type that expands when they get wet
- Spare rack/water bottle screws
