Can anyone provide feedback that has ridden this detour around the extended closure of the PCH. I am aware of a shuttle however its kind of pricy and am considering toughing out the detour. Any suggestions for overnight camping?

This link might have the info you want.  If not do a search as this has been discussed since the route was closed due to the slide at mud creek and the bridge out in Big Sur.  https://forums.adventurecycling.org/index.php?topic=14873.msg77294#msg77294
