Taiwan or People's Repubic's bikes

I know that the majority of bicycles in the world today are manufactured in Taiwan and are are generally good to excellent quality.  At least the pricier ones. However, I'm seeing more and more bikes that are made in the People's Republic of China.  I'm not sure they are up to  the standards that the bicycles in Taiwan are. That said, I am considering buying a bike made in mainland China. Any comments?

I didn't know that, probably because it isn't true. The majority of bicycles are manufactured in the People's Republic of China.
