If you are like me; a bit over forty, an outside person and use readers, I just found some really inexpensive (dirt cheap) quality bifocal sunglasses for my 2018 bicycle tour that really work. When in California my outrigger canoe buddy, Mike, takes me to coves up and down the coast.  It's so different than cycling and the upper body stuff is fun.  Recently he clued me in and showed me these glasses were perfect for reading the GPS screen while paddling when the sun is brutal. Now I will be able to read maps and the bike handlebar's digital gadgets on the fly without the annoyance of changing glasses. The funny thing was I wore them driving yesterday and it was the first time in years that the dials were sharp and clear while wearing sunglasses. Hardware stores often sell plastic safety glasses with with magnifier (reader) lenses. They are available with clear or shaded lenses. They're about $20 at my Lowe's.

Those Hawaii glasses shatterproof and devoid of pieces of metal (e.g., metal hinges) that can damage your eyes in the event of a crash?

I have no idea.  I'm 75 and have never had a pair of sunglasses shatter in my lifetime and I'm not going to start worrying about it now.   ...Maybe you should contact OSHA and find a bombproof pair in the event of nuclear war.

No need for that kind of reply.  I saw a woman crash and nearly lose an eye when her substandard glasses broke and gouged into her face. Perhaps some people other than yourself care about something like that. I remember back in the day one way you could spot a counterfeit pair of Oakley glasses was the use of metal pins.

We stray here, but...   As part of a yearly safety talk at work, I often submit cheap readers to the ANSI Z87 standard test for safety glasses: dropping a 1" ball bearing on the lenses from 50".  Lenses commonly pop out of the frames, but I don't believe I've shattered any yet.  I haven't performed the Z87+ test, which I call the "you'll put your eye out, kid" test.  It calls for something like a .25" projectile at 170mph.

Thanks to the OP for sharing.  I've reached the stage of life where I can't make it through any day without needing readers for something.  And I didn't realize that safety readers were available at Lowes.  I've been too prone to using plain readers in my shop, which is probably a bad idea, my testing results notwithstanding.

We digress.  The point I'm making here is that these sunglasses are bifocal, not full lens same diopter.  One does not have to swap glasses to read the dials.  Bifocal has unadjusted distance lenses, and at the bottom is the reader portion.

Some target shooting supply dealers sell shooting glasses with an uncorrected upper and a lower bifocal segment so shooters can see their sight settings, score targets and do other close-up work without changing glasses.  They meet ANSI standards and would work just as well for riding.  They are available with both clear and tinted (sunglass) lenses and in various diopter strengths for the reading segment.

Hadn't thought of target glasses.  I did a quick check online and what little I found on bifocals were the high prices.  I liked the Hawaiian glasses due to the $20 price.  Almost a throwaway price if I wreck them.

Try Safety Glasses USA. Ive been getting clear and tinted safety glasses with bifocals from them for about a decade. I get a couple years use out of $12 glasses. They have a variety of styles - not all look like safety glasses. Years ago I bought one pair that had the bifocals too high on the lens and they were unsuitable for cycling (probably ideal for an electrician terminating junction boxes). Since then ive been able to recognize which models have bifocals lens positioned low enough for cycling just by looking at photos in their on-line catalog.
