Stored Schwable Marathons
« on: March 25, 2018, 11:43:33 pm »
I posted this earlier in another thread but it may be more appropriate here.

I have some brand new Schwable Marathon 35s stored semi-folded in a box for over a year now. Have I done any damage to them by keeping the boxed up for so long?  I'm hoping to use them on a tour this summer and as you well know, they are not inexpensive.  I'd hate to have to spring  for new ones. Any knowledge about this?

Thanks.

Sorry, I don't have an answer for you, but interested in any replies as I have the same situation with a set of Continental Top Contact II.....

Good luck hikerjer.

I have used tires that were stored for decades without issue.  I wouldn't give it a second thought that your tires were stored for a year.

As long as the tires were stored in reasonably cool, dry conditions, out of direct sunlight and away from electric motors (ozone exposure) they should be fine for years of storage.
